Chicago artist and muralist, Ken Markiewicz grew up in Oak Lawn, Illinois, a southern suburb of Chicago.  After graduating high school, Ken attended the American Academy of Art, where he majored in Illustration.  Ken's art took him in a variety of directions after school.  Although his portfolio became quite diverse, he decided to focus his energies into what he enjoyed doing the most — designing children's rooms.

    Ken's mural career began in 1994, after the birth of his first child.  His interest and strength in editorial illustration (transforming words into pictures) allows him to take his customer's ideas, combined with his own, to create long-lasting and captivating murals that evoke a friendly, inviting feeling when you walk into the room.  His whimsical, light-hearted approach to design has kept his clients coming back again and again.  He has since become one of Chicagoland's top children's muralists.

    There is no denying that children's murals are Ken's specialty, however, he can paint just about anything.  Whether it's a kitchen, dining room, bathroom, bedroom, or basement you want painted, he will work with you to come up with a design that works best for you and your style.

While most of his work is residential, his portfolio of commercial murals continues to grow as well.  A great deal of his commercial work can be seen at any of the Enchanted Castle and Haunted Trails entertainment centers in Illinois.

 

    Ken resides in Naperville, IL (approx. 30 miles west of Chicago) with his wife and three children.  Although the majority of his customer base is located in Naperville, St. Charles, Batavia, Geneva, Aurora and Plainfield, he travels to most Chicagoland areas on a regular basis to serve his clients.

 

    In addition to painting murals, Ken is also in the process of designing children’s canvases and prints, and plans on illustrating children’s books in the future.
